Hello!
My name is Lisandra, and I’m proudly from Madeira Island, a place where the ocean has always been part of who I am. Growing up surrounded by the sea shaped my passion for marine life, which led me to pursue a Biology degree and now a Master’s in Marine Ecology at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon.
I’m especially interested in conservation, species interactions, and science communication. For me, understanding and protecting our ecosystems goes hand in hand with sharing that knowledge with others, making science accessible and inspiring for everyone.
At the moment, my work focuses on developing creative and educational ways to bring marine science closer to the public, especially children and schools. Through interactive exhibitions and workshops, I aim to highlight two fascinating topics: the intelligence and problem-solving abilities of fish, and the crucial role of cleaner fish in coral reef health and biodiversity. The goal is to transform complex scientific concepts into engaging and accessible experiences that inspire curiosity and awareness about the ocean.
Outside of academia, I love cooking (and I'll happily do it as a way to procrastinate), crocheting, listening to music, and playing volleyball. I’m always up for a laugh, a fresh drink, or a day at the beach.
